Business and Office Career Course Descriptions
Computer Software Lab
This class is a unique, self-paced lab setting where students can learn introductory concepts and techniques on current software programs. Students may work on new applications or upgrade current knowledge and skills. Word processing, database management, spreadsheets, multimedia, integration, and fundamentals of the Internet are all offered using a Windows format.
Prerequisite: Keyboarding Skills

Office Support Procedures
This exciting, up-to-date training program provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary for employment in a business office. This course will cover the use of business machines, office keyboarding, telephone, electronic mail, filing, record keeping, job search skills, written and verbal communication skills, internet application, and more.

Marketing Career Course Descriptions
Distribution/Warehouse
This course prepares students for direct entry into the distribution or warehousing department within retail, wholesale, manufacturing, and public establishments. Students learn shipping, lifting and loading, stocking, transportation systems, essential business forms, filing, packing, marking supplies, and receiving operations. Workplace learning is in distribution centers and warehouses.

Floral Design/Sales
This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the floral industry. In an operational, campus based floral class, students will learn how to make arrangements, identify flowers and foliage, takes orders from customers, and prices the arrangements. Students will learn job search and interpersonal skills as well as attitudes necessary to secure and maintain a job. Students who qualify will be permitted to enhance skills in community floral training sites.

Marketing & Merchandising
This course combines classroom instruction with work-based training in various retail stores and malls. Students will learn merchandising strategies, selling techniques, visual merchandising, marketing functions, economics, safety, legal considerations, security, and customer service.

Marketing and Store Management (Advanced)
Students learn management and leadership skills; attend store meetings and major promotional events; assist with training, scheduling, comparison shopping, track sales; participate on scan cash register; develop personal and professional goals; and use leadership skills to help create a workplace that encourages everyone to contribute in teams.
Prerequisite: Completion of marketing or current employment in the marketing field.
